Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up within New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards she began covering the White House. In 1988 she was named head of the congressional reporters. She was made chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell was a panelist, as well as host of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors in journalism, among them the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Mitchell covered a wide range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as budget tax reforms and arms control. She traveled along with Ronald Reagan several times for summits, and to discuss matters such as the Iran Contra controversy.
